Pink Floyd musician apparently said he was ‘fired’ by BMG

Roger Waters has reportedly been dropped by music rights company BMG over his inflammatory remarks about Israel, Ukraine and the United States.

The Pink Floyd rocker, 80, had signed a publishing deal with the German-based company in 2016. However, he has been the subject of multiple controversies in recent years, and was recently accused by former co-workers of making repeated, derogatory comments about Jewish people.

Waters was scheduled to release a newly recorded version of the band’s 1973 classic Dark Side of the Moon last year, but the project was shelved then eventually released by UK-based record label Cooking Vinyl.

Variety reports that Waters himself referred to being “fired” by BMG in a video interview with Glenn Greenwald last November. However, the comment was buried almost half an hour into the conversation; Waters claimed the split was due to pressure from pro-Israeli interests towards BMG’s parent company, Bertelsmann.

A source told the publication that BMG did not agree with Waters’ version for events.

Roger Waters has posted the demo of a new song about GazaIt's called 'Under The Rubble' and in the video he shared while recording the piece there is also a keffiyeh draped across the screen.

Roger Waters has released a video of himself working on a new song on his computer. The composition is called Under The Rubble, “under the rubble”. He recorded the demo at 11.53am on Thursday 28 December and shared it the next day. Here is the text and the clip.

“Papa, I want to go home now,
papa please take me home,
mama please tell me I’m dreaming,
and i'll wake up somewhere and I won’t be alone,
mama it's dark here,
dad has stopped breathing,
mama
mama”.

There appears to be another version of her demo on her computer desktop, saved as “Its Dark here mama.” There is also a keffiyeh, a Palestinian symbol, draped across the screen. There are no further details for now.

Roger Waters has long been a declared anti-Israeli and face of BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions), the pro-Palestinian non-profit organization committed to boycotting brands associated, in any way, with the State of Israel
