THE ROLLING STONES celebrated the official release of their brand new studio album, Foreign Tongues, with an exclusive, star-studded launch party and a landmark drone light show over the River Thames. The private event was hosted by Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood on the terrace of London's newest luxury hotel, St. Clement, drawing a high-profile guest list from across the entertainment world.
Celebrity attendees gathering to toast the legendary rock band included Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Sam Fender, Sacha Baron Cohen, Christian Louboutin, John McEnroe, Glen Matlock, and Vernon Kay. The elite gathering overlooked the capital to mark the arrival of the band's 28th studio album, which was recorded entirely in their hometown of London at Metropolis Studios.
The evening's celebrations culminated in a spectacular, first-of-its-kind visual display staged directly over the water. The breathtaking light show, which illuminated the London skyline above the London Eye and Big Ben, was created by internationally acclaimed lighting and production designer Patrick Woodroffe. The display featured 500 synchronized drones forming the band's classic tongue logo and the new album artwork across the night sky, choreographed dynamically to the group's latest single, "In The Stars."
"Divine Intervention" will serve as the B-side. The band apparently vetoed the working title of "Fuck Ur Pizza," which they jokingly posted on social media earlier this week.
Mick Jagger channels his soulful “Emotional Rescue” falsetto on “Jealous Lover,” one of two newly released songs off the Rolling Stones‘ upcoming Foreign Tongues album, which comes out July 10. A video for the song, available only on Amazon Music for now, dramatizes the lyrics as Anya Taylor-Joy turns green with envy when she thinks her boyfriend, Charles Melton, is cheating on her. The couple dukes it out in a seedy motel parking lot.

The band also released another Foreign Tongues song, “Divine Intervention,” which features additional guitar played by the Cure‘s Robert Smith. The upbeat song in which Jagger envisions the end of the world also features Winwood on piano and organ, Watt on synths and background vocals, saxophonist James King, and trumpeter Ron Blake.
Foreign Tongues is the band’s first new album in three years. Rolling Stone praised it in a review as continuing the band’s late-career winning streak. “In some ways, Foreign Tongues is an improvement on Hackney Diamonds, in that the latter occasionally sounded a little too much like a Jagger solo record in its emphasis on vocal melodies; this one feels more guitar-centric and holistically Stones-y,” the magazine commented, rating the album four stars out of five.

A press release for "Jealous Lover" teases the track's "soulful R&B groove, anchored by a captivating falsetto lead vocal from Mick Jagger." The song also features the Stones' longtime friend and collaborator Steve Winwood on Rhodes piano and organ.

Telling The Telegraph newspaper that working with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood on Hackney Diamonds was "my dreams coming true", he states that the 2023 album has "a special place in my heart".
"But I like this one even more," he says. "It’s rawer and liver and jammier and – wait till you hear the shit Keith’s playing. It’s unbelievable."
"Really, it’s the most fun thing in the world," Watt says of working with the rock legends. "There’s never a single day that I’d go into the studio and not be like, I’m going to see the fucking Rolling Stones play!"
Foreign Tongues will feature cameo appearances by Paul McCartney, Robert Smith from The Cure, Steve Winwood and more. It was recorded in less than one month at Metropolis Studios in west London.
"I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis," Mick Jagger said in a press statement. "It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone."
The revelation that The Cure's frontman Robert Smith guests on the record came as something of a surprise to music fans when the details of the record were announced.
