Now, the pre-sale for his two homecoming shows has been pushed back following a “sophisticated bot attack” reportedly affecting a ticketing site.
Initially, tickets for the St James’ Park shows were set to go live yesterday morning (Wednesday October 28), however this was then pushed back to this morning (Thursday October 29) at 9.30am due to concerns over bots.
Gigantic Tickets confirmed that they had found an “unusually high volume of suspicious activity” on the site and were facing error messages as a result. Fender then confirmed to fans that the pre-sale date would be changed as a result, and would therefore lead to more “real fans” getting tickets
The singer-songwriter previously expressed his frustration with the “inflated” ticket prices for his upcoming ‘Proper Massive Stadium Tour’, and criticised plans to divide standing areas into more expensive front sections and general admission.
He continued: “Costs are astronomical compared to two years ago, I can’t control the venue and ticketing fees, that’s a sad reality of today’s industry.”
A huge stadium run is planned, calling at eight cities in total. It all kicks off in his beloved Newcastle with a pair of shows at St. James’ Park, the site of some of his greatest triumphs.
Sam then plays Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, before completing two nights at Wembley Stadium – the home of English football.
He then visits Scotland for a show at Edinburgh’s Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, and plays two nights at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
Irish fans take note – Sam Fender will play an ambitious outdoor show at Dublin’s Marlay Park on July 1st.
