Suzi Quatro Drops Christmas Single 'My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)'

Suzi Quatro, the 70-year-old pioneering female rocker who burst on to the scene in the 1970s, has just released a new Christmas single, "My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Christmas)".

Quatro explained the song's genesis: "So, lockdown had just begun. My son was in the studio working on ideas every day for our next album, a perfect opportunity as neither of us was 'on the road.' I was sitting on the patio, relaxing, and heard this absolutely beautiful track coming out of the open studio door. It was a bass line, with a sparse guitar chord, and drums. It was immediate for me. I ran into the studio (mask on, of course), and told my son to set up a microphone, and without thinking, without writing anything down, I sang the first four lines of the song exactly as they ended up. That's when you know you have a great song... and we do. Merry Xmas everyone!"

Suzi Quatro says about her previous song: “I wrote and produced this song especially for the new album, No Control. It was originally an unplugged cut just on the vinyl. Then, how these things go... the public took over at concerts... the song went down a storm at the end of the show, and it was decided by all concerned to re-record ...which I did, taking it from unplugged to plugged and back again, it is now an emotional epic. In fact, it is MY HEART ON THE LINE

A first single, “No Soul/No Control,” is expected to be released on Feb. 15. Pre-order the album here.

Quatro has plenty of 2019 concerts scheduled including U.K. dates as part of a “Legends Live” lineup that also includes David Essex and Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers.

The classic rock artist, who turns 69 on June 3, has successfully worked as a musician for more than 50 years. Though she’s from Detroit, Quatro’s initial success was overseas.  On her continuing to record and perform, Quatro says: “I’ll retire when I go onstage, shake my ass, and there is silence.

Recently Suzi Quatro had criticises today’s women in music: Get your clothes on!

‘Think about clothes – put them back on!’ SUZI QUATRO is widely regarded as the first woman of rock music, but she doesn’t think many have followed her lead.
Speaking to Express.co.uk ahead of a new Legends Live tour that will see her play alongside The Osmonds, Hot Chocolate and David Essex, the 66-year-old musician criticised the way modern pop music has become “too sexualised”.

t’s no secret that pop stars like to bare their bodies, whether it’s on stage, on the red carpet, or in a music video. Big pop names like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Gotye left little to the imagination in their video hits, and we’ve also seen nudity (and controversy) pop up in videos from rock acts like the Flaming Lips and Sigur Ros. Check out our list of 20 not so sweet videos that aren’t afraid to show some skin.

Asked if she has seen much improvement in music’s gender politics since her own breakthrough, she said simply: “No.”

“I don’t think that many people have walked through the door that I opened,” she added.

“It’s not an easy job. It’s just not. It needs a lot of stamina. On one tour for example, I was singing 27 songs a night!”

“Put it this way: Just because you think you’re calling the shots on your sexuality as far as your image goes, it doesn’t mean you are. And maybe you’re calling the wrong shots!
“I was sexual, but I was covered! I was covered from actual head to foot! And that was more sexy than being naked.
“There’s a lot to be said for illusion.”
