Interview with the drummer who will bring 'Police Deranged for Orchestra' to Italy in July where he reinterprets the band's music in an orchestral key: from the years when the trio was starving to the opinion on Josh Freese, who replaced his friend Taylor Hawkins in the Foo Fighters.
The first glimmer of success was when I released a few songs under the pseudonym Clark Kent, in fact I never miss an opportunity to remind Andy and Sting that the first time they saw them on television was when we went to Top of the Pops for sing Don't Care. Sting had a gorilla mask on. In short: at the beginning they were my backing band .
"I have to be no more than a quarter of the volume that I would be with a rock band. Normally, that discipline would not work on me, because I'm kind of an instinctive creature of nature on the drums, according to UCR.
But in the case of that little violin solo, the violin lady is like 20 feet away from me and I want to hear what she's playing on her acoustic violin.
So that induces me since I wrote what she's playing on that acoustic violin, that imposes some discipline on the drummer guy. I've learned to play incredibly quietly."
