Looking only at collections of original material, it had been closer to 20 years since their last full-length, so fans of the historic band were understandably thrilled when they announced Hackney Diamonds, Forbes report.
More than a year after they began to promote the album, the set’s lead single has become a hit all over again. The full-length is also about to turn one, and it could soon rise the ranks as well.
The Rolling Stones introduced Hackney Diamonds with “Angry,” their first new single in some time. That cut returns to the top 40 on a pair of charts in the U.K. this week as interest in the catchy rocking smash surges.
“Angry” lands highest, between the two charts it appears on this week in the country, on the Official Vinyl Singles ranking. On that tally, the tune blasts back in at No. 31.
The Rolling Stones’ cut also narrowly manages to find a home inside the top 40 on one more roster. “Angry” re-enters the Official Physical Singles chart at No. 40 this frame.
When the song was new, “Angry” shot to No. 1 on both tallies it makes a home on this week. The track has already spent 24 frames on the vinyl-only list, and it’s up to almost exactly twice as many turns (47 weeks) on the ranking of the bestselling individual tunes on any physical medium.
“Angry” was a sizable win all around the world when it premiered last fall. The track once spent time inside the top 40 on the U.K.’s main singles chart, where it peaked at No. 34. Hackney Diamonds, meanwhile, easily conquered the albums roster in the nation, which is to be expected for a band as beloved as the Rolling Stones.
