Other strategies, such as separate dressing rooms and tour buses — or airplanes, for the high rollers — also help to keep the peace. When it comes to concerts, warring bandmates can enter from separate sides of the stage and never have to see each other. 
"Nobody had any inkling that it was going to be something that lasted," Joe Perry marveled to Guitar World in 2023 regarding Aerosmith's five-decade run. "The whole thing was: 'Don't trust anybody over 30.' Our vision was just to keep the calendar full for a month with gigs so we could pay the rent."
U2 is the rare example of a band that has long seemed to function as a brotherhood — though the dynamic can be tested as the years add up. "You only do this if you're having the best time," drummer Larry Mullen Jr. expressed during a 2022 interview.
"And not everyone is going to make it because the price is so high. So I think the challenge is for more generosity. More openness to the process. I am autonomous and I value my autonomy. I don't sing from the same hymn sheet. I don't pray to the same version of God. So everyone has their limits."

Santana (Formed in 1966) 
Carlos Santana's early days in San Francisco found him forming his first band, which would be christened the Santana Blues Band. Latin American jazz fusion icon Carlos Santana will be the subject of an expansive documentary directed by Emmy winner Rudy Valdez.
Imagine Documentaries is collaborating on the project with Sony Music Entertainment, which is co-financing and handling distribution. It will follow Santana’s journey from a 14-year-old street musician to a 10-time Grammy-winning global sensation, and feature unseen archival footage and tracks
E Street Band (Formed in 1966)
E Street Band is rock singer Bruce Springsteen's backing band. The first stable lineup of the group dates back to 1972, at the time of the recording of Springsteen's first album, although the name E Street Band began to be used publicly in the summer of 1974
Chicago (Formed in 1967)
Chicago's long history began in 1967 when they formed as the Big Thing, morphing into Chicago Transit Authority a year later. By 1969, they became simply known as Chicago. Weathering a number of lineup changes, including the tragic death of guitarist Terry Kath in 1978 (and the departure of vocalist Peter Cetera in 1985).

Fleetwood Mac (Formed in 1967)
Fleetwood Mac are a British-American rock band formed in London in 1967. Fleetwood Mac was founded by guitarists and vocalists Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer and drummer Mick Fleetwood. Bob Brunning was hired as a temporary bass guitarist before John McVie joined the line-up in time for their eponymous debut album. Danny Kirwan joined as a third guitarist and vocalist in 1968. Keyboardist and vocalist Christine Perfect, who contributed as a session musician starting with the band's second album, married McVie and joined Fleetwood Mac as a full member in 1970, becoming known as Christine McVie.

Kiss (Formed in 1973)
Kiss first came together in 1973, but the roots of the New York group started two years earlier. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley formed the band Wicked Lester and even got a deal with Epic Records. The glory would be short-lived, as the outfit recorded one album that was quickly shelved. With a bit of Kabuki makeup magic, they found the right formula with a new band and a new name: Kiss. The rest, as they say, is rock 'n' roll history.
