Sheryl Crow: 'Me, Stevie Nicks and the Rolling Stones'

By VMZ Staff on September 14, 2022

Sheryl Crow has shared a newly recorded cover of the Rolling Stones' "Live With Me" featuring the legendary band's Mick Jagger on harmonica.

Sheryl Crow's 60 years of life are being showcased in a new biopic, titled Sheryl. The music used in the documentary will of course be from the woman who inspired the film. Fans will also be able to purchase the soundtrack the same day the film arrives on Showtime.

When Stevie Nicks was working on her sixth solo album, she asked Sheryl Crow to help her out on several tracks, two of which—”If You Ever Did Believe” and “Crystal”— ended up on the soundtrack for the movie Practical Magic, starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. (AS)

Crow also helped co-produce several tracks, including one she wrote for Nicks, the tender acoustic ballad “It’s Only Love.” The two friends have performed together live a number of times, and Nicks also appeared on Crow’s 2002 album C’mon C’mon, co-writing the song “You’re Not the One.” Several years earlier, Crow also inducted Fleetwood Mac into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

She said in a statement: "Doing a solo show like this is challenging and exhilarating. Presenting these songs in a new way is exciting for me - this is not a typical acoustic show, those can be great, but this is something different.(UCR)

"I feel the beginnings of a renewal after the painful separation we've been through. I have tremendous gratitude for it. I can't wait for fans to hear and see this very special show."

The song will be included in the upcoming documentary Sheryl about Crow's life and career, which is set to premiere on Showtime on May 6. (The Stones' original version appeared on their 1969 album, Let It Bleed.)

"In 1995, 'All I Wanna Do' had just come out and I get a phone call from Mick Jagger at 4:30 in the morning," she recalled to Female First in 2010. "I answered it and was like, 'This is so not funny' and hung up. I hung up on him. The phone rang again, and I'm like, 'What?' And it was Mick. He was like, 'Oh, Sheryl ... ' . He said, 'We're doing a pay-per-view in Miami, do you wanna come play?' Yes, I wanna come play."

Last year appearing on the late-night talk show on Wednesday night (November 25) to promote the recently released expanded edition of Petty’s Wildflowers, Crow’s virtual performance took place in front of a rusty shed amongst some woodland.(NME)
