The film, directed by BAFTA-winners Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (20,000 Days On Earth), arrives in UK and Ireland cinemas on March 20, following its premiere at Venice Film Festival 2025.
To mark the release, a line-up of music guests will take to the stage at the Barbican Hall in the capital as part of a preview screening on Wednesday March 18, in partnership with Vue Lumière and the Barbican.
Pulp frontman Cocker is scheduled to be joined at the event by Calvi, Rufus Wainwright, Beth Orton, and actor and musician Samantha Morton.
The documentary stars Tilda Swinton, George MacKay, Nick Cave, Suki Waterhouse and Courtney Love, and draws on interviews, archival material and Faithfull’s final recorded performance.
Courtney Love, Thurston Moore, My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe and Portishead’s Adrian Utley have been working on a project together at Konk Studios in London, along with PJ Harvey collaborator Rob Ellis.

It looks as though they’re working on a Marianne Faithfull covers project, per an Instagram post.

In the post, Googe wrote, “I spent a day in the Kinks‘ studio, covering Marianne Faithfull songs,” alongside a range of photos from the studio.
The producer Ben Christophers made a post, too, in which he called the meeting “an amazing experience in the merging of music and film.. Don’t want to say much more but you’ll find out soon enough.”
While we don’t know any more details about the project at this stage, the album ‘The Faithfull: A Tribute To Marianne Faithfull‘ was released last December, featuring covers of 19 songs originally performed by the singer-songwriter between 1964 and 2004. Among the artists involved were Iggy Pop and Cat Power, who collaborated on ‘Working Class Hero‘, Garbage’s Shirley Manson, and singer-songwriters Tracy Bonham and Joan As Police Woman.
Marianne Faithfull was Jagger’s girlfriend in the 1960s. She’s most famous for a pair of ballads: “As Tears Go By,” which was co-written by Jagger and Keith Richards, and a cover of The Beatles’ “Yesterday.” If anyone has the right to pontificate on the differences between The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, it’s certainly her.
In her book Memories, “As Tears Go by”, singer discussed the two defining British bands of the 1960s. “The Beatles completely evolved from the pop business,” she said. “The Stones began as a Brit Chicago R&B group and then lurched into a more raunchy rig than The Beatles ever managed. When The Beatles stopped touring in 1966 they were still the lovable Fab Four — they were rock ‘n’ roll muppets. The Stones were menacing and sexy.”
